And while the maps are vast, the poor mapping and radar quickly give you the feeling of wandering lost in a wasteland. The radar in particular, is so local as to rarely have anything of value being shown.
Maybe after 50 powerups, the game gets exciting. But at the core right now, the game is nice background for the pretty music. With the release being .9e, I think even the developer realizes there is plenty of room to improve.

| User Reviews/Comments: | | jonah_tg I disagree with Chet. | gannon modding capabilities of this game are great | JimL2 It's nothing you haven't seen in any other Star Control clone. Sacrifices some fun for "realism." | El_FluffyDragon I like Star Control, but it's no Star Control clone. It's different, and it's better. | OnTheMoonWithSteve It does start out slow, but it really _is_ exciting after 50 powerups. | Mangoat One star to drop rating from all the fanboys. Ok game that needs to pick between an RPG or action. | Aquillion By-the-numbers Escape Velocity clone with many gameplay issues. | el rallan With better gameplay and some RP it could rock. As is? You'd be better reinstalling Elite Plus. | Tyfus I like this. But Chet is right about ot being unfinished. | theholythom brilliant game. the review needs updating. download it now and see | Nexus Alpha I found this game linear, boring, frustrating and repetitive. The controls were awkward, the interface cluttered and counterintuitive, and (unlike Nethack which inspired it) it really does need more than a paper-thin storyline to make it coherent.
Credit where credit is due though, the graphics are outstanding and obviously a labour of love. | | Register or login To Post a Comment |
